Today marked another first for the Foundation: we have
partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society, to roll-out Road Hockey to Conquer
Cancer throughout Canada! I’m ecstatic about this news as it represents a real
and true collaboration between two organizations that have similar goals – to
eradicate cancer for good. We are bringing together the best of both groups to
help conquer cancer in our lifetime through an exciting and fun event, to raise
crucial funds for cancer research.
Don’t get me wrong – CCS and PMH have worked together for
many years with the Society funding a wide range of cancer research projects
led by researchers based at The Princess Margaret. Their support has been
crucial to the work that happens here. But, this represents a first for the
Foundation and for the Society, working together on an epic, dawn-to-dusk mega
fundraising event.
The announcement was made this morning in front of The Campbell
Family Cancer Research Institute, to read the release and see some video Click Here.
More details about the national expansion that is taking
place in 2012 with specific details of dates and locations, will come. In the
meantime, don’t miss the inaugural game of Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer
happening on October 1st at Ontario place, this year. We have over
250 teams signed-up already – a world record for Road Hockey!
