Spring Time Beckons!

Posted by Paul

We are almost ready to turn the page on winter and welcome Spring’s warm embrace (OK, I might be a month or 6 weeks early, but Spring is not far off). March is a busy month around PMHF as we have so many major events: the Home Lottery, donor activities, board meetings, budgets and strategic planning in various stages. Also, The Ride to Conquer Cancer is only 3 months away. Joe’s Team Triathalon is launched and about 100 brave and lucky souls have signed up already. Corporate teams and others are signing up in a big way for the all new Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women’s Cancers Walk. Swimming the opening leg of the Joe’s Team Triathalon in Lake Joseph doesn’t seem so far off as March approaches! Progress is being made on the Gattusso Rapid Diagnostic Centre. The all new Chemo Daycare is fully planned and will soon be a reality. Dr. Ben Neel is busy recruiting superstars to his amazing cancer research team. It also seems like a “new start” for the staff of PMHF as we settle into our new offices on the 10th floor of the Hydro building. March break is fast approaching and I will take time to “sharpen the saw” by heading down to Key West for riding, spinning, walking, swimming, fishing and generally loving life! March is a time of anticipation and transition. It is a busy time, and it is a time many people take a break and enjoy some time off. I love the saying, “You need to take time to sharpen the saw.” We all need to take some time off and build the “passion capital” and energy to make a true difference. Whether you are working, volunteering, vacationing or a little of each, enjoy March, and remember, Spring is “just around the corner”! Hope you can take time to “sharpen the saw” and get a “March Break”! The “gone fishing” message will soon be on my email, but I know my Blackberry and laptop will be humming everyday down in Key West.
