Have
you ever watched those World Record shows? I remember once seeing a guy eat 59½
hotdogs in 12 minutes to set a new World Record. Can’t even imagine eating two
in 12 minutes, but there he was, a little, skinny guy scarfing down more than
59 hotdogs like he hadn’t eaten for weeks.
We’ll
leave the hotdogs to somebody else, but at The Princess Margaret Hospital
Foundation, we are on the path to a World Record of a different sort. Our Road
Hockey to Conquer Cancer event on Saturday, October 1 is destined to be the
world’s largest road hockey tournament. We’re going to have a blast!
There’ll
be more than 280 teams, as well as celebrities, crew and volunteers, all down
at Ontario Place here in Toronto to be a part of this event. Most importantly,
Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is raising critical funding for cancer research
at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the
world.
But
we’re missing one thing…YOU!
Register
so you can be part of this historic event. Go to www.TeamUpToConquerCancer.ca and register online
or call our Road Hockey office at 1-877-541-4646. As we gain momentum towards
Game Day, we have some very special deals. Registration during August is now just
$25, a saving of $50! And thanks to our wonderful media sponsors CP24 and
Sportsnet Radio The FAN590, everybody gets a $250 credit towards their
fundraising! That means that participants need only raise $1,000 now. But
that’s not all! The team fundraising minimum is $10,000, so if you have some
excellent fundraisers on your team, it picks up the slack for some that might
find it challenging to raise that amount. As long as the team passes the
$10,000 mark for its 8 to 10 players, everybody gets to play and no one will be
left behind.
There’s
so much going on this month that we’re calling it SHOCK AND AWE-GUST!
Each
team plays at least 5 games from dawn to dusk on Saturday, October 1.
In-between, there’ll be food, beverages, music, massages, interactive games and
a lot more. There will be all kinds of divisions, so it will keep the day fun.
I am SO looking forward to it! It’s going to take me back to being that
10-year-old kid on Buckingham Drive in Riverside, Ontario, playing with my
buddies on the street. “Car!!” In fact, in honour of those memories, I even
named my Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer team The Kings of Buckingham.
Be
part of something historic. Join us for something fun, and really exciting!
Help us conquer cancer in our lifetime! Register today for Road Hockey to
Conquer Cancer as we head towards a world record day.
A
hotdog may be a wiener, but this event is a winner!
