On Thursday May 1, 2008 The Princess Margaret Hospital celebrated their 50 year anniversary. I was happy to be a part of the celebration on their 7th floor Atrium. Several hundred people attended the event including Dr. Robert Bell the CEO & President University Health Network and Chair of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation Board of Directors Neville W. Kirchmann. I was also pleased to see the several nurses, housekeeping and volunteers join in the celebration.
The great research going on at PMH over the past 50 years has helped so many battle cancer and because of this the hospital has been internationally recognized. I am proud to be a part of it.
I would also like to speak about the loss of a friend of mine Brian Laramie. My deepest sympathies go out to his wife and their two fine sons. I have been up to see Brian daily and he had a room full of family and friends around him every time I visited. Brian was an optimist, a fighter and lived life to its fullest. Thanks to the superb staff in our palliative care centre. Hey Brian, God Bless you buddy!
