Orange CN Tower-5KM Walk-Riders on the Storm

Posted by Paul

Spring is finally here and what an amazing start to the warm weather. Last Saturday night Sheila and me joined about 3 dozen friends of Joe Finley and stood at the base of the CN Tower at sunset. It was warm and the late afternoon glow gave way to the “giant orange creamsicle in the sky”…….The CN Tower was lit in brilliant orange light in honor of Joe and the Joe’s Team triathalon. Cara Finley spoke to some media gathered and the rest of us who do the Joes triathalon talked about how cold the water is up at Lake Joe right now. The “Blind Guys” teams who do the Joes Team Tri are some of the most inspirational folks you can meet. Joe was smiling as the CN tower screamed out the “Orange Glo” of Joes Team. Joe continues to inspire us all. This Sunday May 15th about 500+ of us will be walking and running the 5km course to raise funds for the many special projects and causes at PMH. It is truly a time where a small group can participate to raise money for Palliative Care or in memory of Conchetta Guglietti or many, many other fine causes. A HUGE turn out for this first time event during the Toronto Marathon. Finally, Sheila, Sarah and I have our bikes tuned and we are getting ready to Ride the Ride to Conquer Cancer. June 11th and 12th is just around the corner. We hope to have a record turn out and hope to raise record funds. The three of us ride together and our team is called “The Riders on the Storm”. We are hoping for more sunshine and warm weather June 11th and 12th. Riding out of the CNE down Lakeshore toward Hamilton Mountain with about 5,000 other like minded cyclists is nothing short of spectacular. Its Spring and the Orange CN Tower for Joe, hundreds walking the 5km this weekend, training rides and bike tuning this weekend reminds us of just how many ways we can support our cause and our friends and family with cancer. The lottery draws are all day Thursday on CP 24. The “Most Wanted” Fashion Show was amazing up at Eagles Nest. Bridge for a cure had the Bridge crowd stepping up for cancer research. What an incredible community of supporters! Thanks to one and all…..each and every one of you!
