November 2nd Anniversary and Message from Geoff Beattie

Posted by Paul

November 2nd, 2002 was the day my Mom, Patricia Alofs, passed away from cancer in her home. Sunday was the sixth anniversary of her passing but a day doesn't go by when I don't think of her and her profound influence on me and all those she touched. My Mom was a huge NFL football fan so when Sheila and I got back from a weekend trip to NYC, I flipped on the NFL and watched football all day....smiling at the way she used to shout advice to the players on the tv and cheer her favourites on.

I have included an email message sent to me from Geoff Beattie in this blog posting (see below). Geoff is CEO of Woodbridge, Chairman of the board of Bell Globe Media, Deputy Chairman of Thomson Reuters, and a UHN board member. He is a truly remarkable person and a big supporter of cancer research and other programs at Princess Margaret. Geoff's email recognizes the excellence of the team here at PMHF. We are proud of and grateful for this type of recognition. On behalf of the team and volunteers who make up PMHF, I pass along the email from Geoff.

Rest In Peace Mom. Thanks Geoff! Go Obama Go!

Email Message from Geoff:

Over the last year I have had the occasion to work with many organization in the not for profit sector. From Universities and Hospitals to world care organizations to community focused agencies in canada the us and england.  What I have found is that no one equals the standard of excellence in the area of development and giving programs that can match you and your team.

Thank you for all you do and most importantly how you do it!
