What a wonderous and a significant day for cancer research in Canada! In Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto, Princess Margaret joined with our colleagues across the country to announce the national expansion of the Ride to Conquer Cancer. We worked for 3 years planning the first Ride from Toronto to Niagra Falls. The first Ride was a spectacular success and raised $14 million for the Campbell Family Institute at PMH. Today was a dream come true. Vancouver- Seattle ride, Calgary-Banff-Rockies ride, Montreal-Quebec City ride in addition to the Toronto-Niagra Falls ride. Although there is plenty of bad economic news and fear to go around, we are optimistic and hopeful our Ride to Conquer Cancer will be a success for many years to come. Today, Steve Bauer, Chinyere Eni, Kevin Sullivan and Dr. Jon irish all spoke so passionately about their reasons to ride. Our wonderful board of directors at PMHF and our clinical and research associates who came out and rode are inspirational to us. Our 2,850 riders, hundreds of volunteers and thousands and thousands of donors are a gift and a blessing.
Today we made an announcement that is significant for cancer research across Canada. Christine Lasky, Steve Merker and team RTCC have done a superb job. We work from the heart and we are proud to be part of this national program. Our thanks and our praise to all who have supported us. Our best wishes to our colleagues from BC Cancer Foundation, Alberta Cancer Foundation, and the Jewish General Hospital Foundation who are our partners in the national expansion of the Ride! Please go to www.conquercancer.ca for more info. Ride on!
