Joe’s Team and the Power of One

Posted by Paul

One of my favourite movies is “The Power of One”. As the title suggests its about the power of one person to make a difference. On Saturday, July 5th I had the pleasure of participating in a Triathalon up on Lake Joseph. The event, Joe’s Team Triathalon, was a resounding success. Joe Finley is one extraordinary guy. He is a true inspiration and a hero to me and many others. He is a very low key and unassuming person but has incredible strength of character and purpose. He organized this successful event and has participated since its inception. Joe is being treated at PMH and is giving back in a big way. It was an amazing day and the event was flawless in execution and superb in its “vibe”. Caitlin from PMH did a great job again from the foundation point of view. I did the Triathalon with my daughter Sarah. Swim, bike, run….then lots of grinning and high fiving. What really swept me away is the power of one person, in this case Joe Finley, to make such a difference. He raised over $600,000 but also inspired every single person present. Joe has a great family and team of supporters around him but he is the inspired one and the inspiration. The power of one…..the power of Joe Finley. I have started the walk training for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer in September. My sister Kim and her husband Bill are walking this year with me, Sheila, Sarah and The Marilyns. Kim and Bill are hiking the Grand Canyon next week (how hot is that going to be) so they should breeze through the walk. I am really really looking forward to the Weekend to End Breast Cancer this year (always a great event and a highlight). We have made some excellent changes and additions to the event this year and I particularly can’t wait for camp on Saturday! More on this later. Biking, Triathlon, Walking……I don’t need a gym membership cause I work for Princess Margaret!
