I am delighted by the announcement from the board of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation that I have been appointed for another 5 year term to be President and CEO of the Foundation (see announcement below). I have spent 5 years in my role here so far and I have never been so energized and excited by a job….its more of a vocation and a “cause” than a job. The docs and researchers and all the staff, volunteers and members of the PMH community are inspired and inspirational to work with. I hope we can keep the positive momentum we have collectively built and continue to be recognized as “One of the Top 5 Cancer Centres In the World”. We have much to do but so much has been accomplished. Thanks to each and every member of our community who support our vision “To Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime”! Here’s to 5 more years!
Announcement
Dear Colleagues,
At its recent Annual General Meeting, the Princess Margaret Foundation Board agreed that Paul Alofs should continue as President and CEO of PMHF for a second five year term (at least!!). As leaders of the PMHF we are obviously delighted to share this news with you.
During his initial five years, Paul has established a powerhouse organization that excels in all aspects of what makes a Foundation great. First and foremost, he has recruited and developed wonderful staff for the Foundation. The PMHF staff are very highly regarded fund raising professionals who show tremendous commitment to the cause.
Paul has further enhanced the wonderful brand represented by the Princess Margaret Cancer Program which extends out of the walls of the PMH across the entire cancer program at UHN. UHN is far and away Canada’s premier cancer centre and the Foundation has built our brand tremendously with Paul’s marketing/branding expertise.
Like all of our three terrific foundations, the PMHF has excelled in fund raising- developing and maintaining the lotteries, the Weekend to End Breast Cancer and the exciting new Ride. Major gifts have expanded tremendously under Paul’s leadership and the establishment of the Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute is a tribute to the Foundation’s major gift development expertise.
Finally Paul has led the Foundation to deepen and widen its relationships- with staff in our hospitals and especially with our supporters outside the hospitals. Our donors know that when we commit to something as a Foundation and a hospital- we will deliver on our commitments. Paul’s “re-signing” is crucial to maintain the confidence of our communities- and the current stress in our financial markets makes this factor even more important now than a month ago.
Finally, on a personal level, the three of us are delighted to have an opportunity to work with Paul over the next five years. His commitment to the cause of conquering cancer in our lifetime is unquestioned, his skills are superb- and we all share the same excitement for what we can accomplish together.
Please join us in congratulating Paul for his renewed five year term.
Bob Bell (CEO UHN), Keith Ambachtsheer (Chair PMH Foundation) and
Neville Kirchmann (immediate past-Chair PMHF).
