The Weekend to End Breast Cancer Becomes Bigger and Bolder
The impact
of the Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting The Campbell Family Institute at
The Princess Margaret will be felt more deeply and broadly in the community
than ever before.
Participants
will now be given the option to designate whether funds they raise go towards
the fight against breast cancer or towards combating other women’s cancers,
such as ovarian and cervical. In addition, the 2009 edition of the event will
also feature a one-day walk alongside the annual two-day blockbuster event.
Ride to Conquer Cancer National Expansion
Following the
extraordinary success of the inaugural 2008 Ride To Conquer Cancer
(2,850 Riders raised a staggering $14 million by pedaling from Toronto
to Niagara Falls), the cycling fundraiser has now expanded to include
three more of Canada’s most appealing locations. With hospital
personnel and Riders gathered in front of The Campbell Family Institute
at Princess Margaret Hospital, the 2009 Ride To Conquer Cancer was
officially launched, now including spectacular rides in Vancouver,
Calgary and Montreal as well.

In its inaugural year, The Ride to Conquer Cancer emerged as Canada's most successful cycling fundraiser. On June 21, The Princess Margaret announced that 2850 participants from across North America, The United States and Australia raised $14 million.

The Campbell Family Institute Gets a Home!
What a day on University Avenue! The Campbell Family Institute signage went up on 620 University Avenue and now the Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute officially has a home! Seeing the signs go up is quite an occasion for all of us who have worked along with Linda, Gaye and Susan-The Campbell's, to launch this major new Institute.

Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute Announcement
Canada's leading cancer research centre announced on June 3rd 2008 that a long-term gift of $37.5 million from the Campbell family will be recognized through the creation of The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute (CFCRI) at Princess Margaret Hospital. The Campbell family's support over the course of their association with Princess Margaret Hospital now totals $67.5 million, representing the largest cumulative private gift to cancer research in Canada.
